First,
it's important that we establish the definition of a Total
Model review. This website is not like a printed model magazine.
People do not have the time - or patience - to sit in front
of a monitor and thumb through page after page of data. They
want their information to be served up in short order. People
read reviews beacuse they are looking for answers. Typically,
they want to know, "is this thing any good?"
For this reason, expect the reviews on Total Model to be concise
and to the point. This is more than sufficient to convey an
opinion and general impression of the item in question.
Once an item appears in the database it can be reviewed again
and again an unlimited number of times. Visitors to the site
are invited to leave their own comments as personal testimonials
- a useful and equally valid extension of the original review.
The marks that are awarded to each item are added to a dynamic
average score. This - together with each review - should provide
a fully rounded and genuine critique of every model in the database.
If you would like some tips about the different things you should
consider when constucting your review, please click here.
Of course it's perfectly possible that some people may wish
to review an item that does not appear in the database. If this
is the case, you will need to provide Total Model with an image
of the model you wish to review. The purpose of these images
is not to promote your modelling skills but rather to provide
the model with an "identity". The simplest and most
effective way of doing this is to scan the box or packaging
in which the model is sold. Figures and miniatures can either
be scanned or photographed against a neutral background. All
images should be at least 400 pixels high/wide.
If you would like to review an item that does not yet appear
in the current database, click here

Finally, whilst you are most welcome to leave your comments
and testimonials, please do not consider this an open invitation
to indulge in point-scoring and/or axe-grinding! Whilst no-one
expects anyone to give each model a glowing commendation, your
critique will be far more effective (and useful) if it is backed-up
by honest reasoning. In so doing, this database will grow into
a valuable repository of information that should benefit the
entire model-making community.
