When constructing a review there are many factors that need
to be taken into consideration. What follows is by no-means
a complete list - but is a good indication of the different
"variables" you should bear in mind before putting
pen to paper. If nothing else, read this list and then take
another look at that model!
- Authenticity: Is the model a relaistic
interpretation or simply a caricature?
- Detail: Is everything there that should
be there?
- Accuracy: Is everything there that
should be there in the right place?
- Craftsmanship: A work of art - or
a work of fiction?
- Instructions: Clear - or could a 2
year old armed with a fat crayon do a better job?
- Scale: How does it compare to other
models of the "same" scale.
- Proportions: Is my nose really
that big?
- Casting: Are there too many mould
marks, air bubbles, etc., that need attention?
- Construction: Do the parts fit together
correctly or is there daylight between the gaps?
- Materials: Could the use of other
materials improve the quality of the model?
- Extras: Is the kit complete, did it
come with extras or did you need to buy extras to
finish it?
- Challenge: Too easy - too difficult?
- Value for money: How much?!!
There may be other considerations and some may not apply to
all models. In any event, try to make a mental note of these
questions and cross them off the list as you construct your
review.
