MMS have been pumping out quality 1:76th scale models for some time. Designer, Barry Walby, has always struck me as someone who is determined to produce the very best kit possible - without cutting corners. Accuracy is his byword. His recently recently released Panzer IV ausf. H. provides clear evidence of this.
The white metal kit is composed of 9 large parts, including the main hull, turret, engine cover, side skirts and wheel/track assemblies. Each piece is superbly detailed down to the last rivet. I'm particularly impressed with the turret which is cast in one large piece - including spaced armour. Incredibly, apart from a tiny plug at the rear there isn't a mould line in site. In fact the entire model is clean and flash-free.
The main pieces of the kit fit together without any problems. Once this is complete, there remains the task of detailing the kit. The PzIV comes complete with a small bag containing upwards of 30 additional components. Many of these are the brackets with which to support the side skits, but there are also drive sprockets, headlights, a jack, the cupola, an exhaust unit and even a fire extinguisher. In short, nothing has been forgotten. This is, in every sense, a complete kit.
The MMS Panzer IV H is an accurate, well designed model that contains more than enough fine detail to please both collectors and wargamers alike.
