Faller is a German company which specializes in highly detailed model railroad accessories. This includes buildings, structures, and a car system for running electric vehicles with an HO layout. They also distribute Pola products. Their products are carried (or can be ordered) by most RR hobby stores.
The original Hexenloch Mill was built in 1825 and has been in operation ever since. This HO scale kit (Catalog #388) is made of plastic in 11 colors (although it still looks better if painted), has excellent detail and all parts fit as described with virtually no trimming. The instructions are very clear and easy to follow but this is not a kit for beginners. A 12-16 V AC motor and gear assembly run the water wheels and the saw is operated by a small cam on the back of the motor. A large amount of logs and cut lumber as well as windows and printed curtains are also provided. The included window flower boxes (and flowers) can be added for the European look or left off for other parts of the world. The price of $60 (US) is very reasonable for the final product, especially if you can get it on sale.
