The best 28mm WWII figures I have ever seen

When constructing a review you must always be aware of a factor I like to refer to as the "differential". Whilst it may be tempting to award a model a top mark - you are often reluctant to do so just in case another model comes along and (yet again) surpasses your expectations. Thankfully, in this case, there were no such considerations.
These Crusader Miniatures' French troops are quite simply the best 28mm WWII figures I have ever seen. They are the first pack in a range known as "The Fall of France". Each figure is dressed in the customary greatcoat and helmet that is indicative of the period. Each soldier is also burdened with the kind of backpack that wouldn't look out of place draped across the back of a mule. Here the sculpting - combined with an all too essential eye for detail - is second to none. Buttons, buckles and facial features are all rendered with equal clarity and precision.
Perhaps the most striking, certainly most telling, feature of these figures is that they look so "normal". Almost all of the figures available on the market today bear some form of artistic hallmark or characteristic which betrays their origin. These figures do not. Instead they have a inherent balance and sense of proportion all of their own which is a fitting testament to the quality of their design.
Although French forces may not be on top of everyone's list, I cannot recommend these figures highly enough. Top notch craftsmanship all round.
