There is always lots to see and do on the Total Model website. There
are some great features for you to use - most of which are obvious,
but other less so. This is a quick run-down of the things you will
find.
Main
News Pages
The site is composed of a number of different sections. Most sections
contain news and information relating to one particular facet of model
making, such as military models, wargames and so on. Each section
has its own News Page where you will find bulletins and links to articles.
Each News Page can be accessed via the row of links which runs horizontally,
left - to - right, across the top of every page on the site. The link
entitled "Home" which is on the extreme left of the row,
is where you will find news bulletins taken from all the other sections
of the site and condensed into a single Main News Page.
Features
The features section contains special articles and announcements that
warrant particular attention. This is also the section in which we
post information about our monthly competitions. A full list of all
the competitions hosted on the site can be found in the right-hand
margin of the Features
News Page.
The
Showcase
The Showcase is a very special gallery. Every company featured on
Total Model is invited to submit a range of images depicting their
products. At the time of writing there are already 50+ companies featured
in the Showcase and well over 1,000 product images! Over time it is
hoped that this will become one of the largest product catalogues
on the Internet.
The
Forum
The Total Model Forum is a place to share ideas, tips and information.
It's a also a great place to stop and meet like-minded modelling enthusiasts
- even if you don't want to talk about models! Newcomers are always
made welcome and encouraged to make a contribution. In order to use
the Forum you will first need to register.
On-Line
Most of the main sections on Total Model feature companies and/or
other professional organisations. The On-Line section is very different.
It is dedicated to people, their interests and their websites - professional
or not. As such it is one of the most diverse areas of the site and
already features a miniature sculptor, a wargame software programmer
and two talented figure painters.
User
Gallery
As the name suggests, the User Gallery is a facility which displays
images uploaded by the users of the Total Model website. Everyone
is invited to submit pictures of their models and figures to share
with others. The facility also allows visitors to leave comments about
the images on display. Not surprisingly, the User Gallery is one of
the most popular features on the entire site. Like the Forum, however,
in order to uplaod images you must first register.
Photo
Archive
The User Gallery is a place for displaying pictures of models. The
Photo Archive - on the other hand - is where you will find pictures
of the real thing! Typically, this will include archive images of
military vehicles, aircraft and even uniforms. Where possible, we
will also accommodate images of buildings, structures and other interesting
subject matter.
Workshop
The Total Model Workshop is a mine of information. It includes everything
from small tips to full page tutorials. Many of these articles have
been compiled by some of the most talented model makers in the business.
The section also plays host to our regular General's Tent features
and our forthcoming Battle Reports.
Reviews
The Reviews section is fast developing into a huge repository of comment
and information. It encompasses a diverse range of models and associated
products. So far this includes everything from traditional kit models
to 6mm high figures and even wargame rules. Visitors to Total Model
are encouraged not only to submit their own reviews - for items which
already appear in the database - but also their own products.
Classifieds
If you're looking to sell a model or hoping to find that all important
kit, you are invited to post a notice in the Total Model Classified
Ads section. You can post as many notices as you like about a wide
choice of different subjects. You can even upload images if you wish.
Best of all, it's entirely free!
Links
The Total model Links Database provides you with the ultimate gateway
to the model making world. Links are added on a daily basis. Visitors
to the site are invited to add their own links - even to sites they
do not own. Simply fill in the form with the relevant details and
we can all pay a visit!
