Ivan Angel runs the Quartermaster General's website. As well as a keen wargamer and figure painter, he is an equally keen observer of the latest technology. Perhaps more importantly, he actively pursues ways of bringing the two together. Several years ago he created a small software application for use with the PBI wargame ruleset from Peter Pig - which proved extremely popular.
His latest project is called Wargames Hosting Dot Com. It seeks to bring the wonders of the Internet within easier reach of individual gamers and wargaming clubs alike. Ivan is offering a range of extremely competitive hosting options which should make the process of getting "on line" a lot easier and - crucially - a lot cheaper!
Wargames Hosting Dot Com came about due to two reasons, firstly a desire to provide an inexpensive means for wargamers to host their own websites with out having to worry about size or bandwidth limits. And secondly, as experienced with hosting our other site, The Quarter Master General, www.quartermastergeneral.co.uk other website hosting companies could not always be relied upon to provide internet services, which in our case lead to the ISP's server "blowing up" leaving us with out any website at all. The ISP was unable to make repairs and we were forced to seek other means to get the QMG web site back up and running. In the end we decided to take the major step of not relying on another company at all and commissioning our own server (along with spares!!!) to host own website. With this route taken we realized that there was no reason why we could not go ahead with offering our own web hosting service and so Wargames Hosting Dot Com was Born.
