This programme came about through the need for a quick and easy method of
producing Army lists that could be used for playing the RFCM teams PBI II
rules set. PBI II is a set of rules for playing Company sized engagements
in WWII wargames. (PBI II is available from Peter
Pig)
Due to the nature of the complexity of Army Organisations for this period
it was hard to use other previously available software to design and output
Army lists and so the task of writing a bespoke software programme to
undertake this task was begun.
PBI II Army List Creator Version 2.11 comes with an automated setup program
to install the software on to your computer (Win 98 and XP Home, single
file for Win NT/2000/XP Pro). Once this is run you will be able to access
the program in the usual way via the Start - Programs menu bar.
When run the program presents you with a screen like the one below. (the
screens below may vary slightly to the current release of the software.
Click each thumbnail for an enlarged image.).
Once this screen is loaded on to your desktop you can select to create
a new Army List through the File - New Menu. This will then present you
with the next screen. From here you will be able to select your desired
Army Nationality. The full version will also allow you to open/save PBI
II Army list Creator Files and also to sent out to a printer.
Once you have chosen your desired Nationality you will the be presented
with a screen that will allow you to then chose from the given Organisations
available to you Army as can be seen below.
Once you have chosen your Army's organisation the software will then
load in the setting required to present you with the options available
to you as a Company Commander for that given Nationality and Army Organisation.
From here you can then select whether you require a Company Commander,
his Morale and any transport or support sections he has available to him.
From the Company Assets section you can select the number of Platoons
required and any other assets the you think your company will require
for its up coming mission.
Once you have selected a Company Asset by clicking on the relevant box that
Assets button will become enabled. When you click on this button you can
then select all of that Assets properties as in the next image.
Other Company Assets include Armoured Platoons and as can be seen in
the next image you are presented with a list of the options available
to you.
Once you have selected all of the Assets that you require you can see
a detailed breakdown of how you have spent your points.
Other Assets that may be Available to your company can be viewed in the
Battalion Assets Tab as below
With all of these functions available to you the PBI Army List Creator
becomes a powerful tool enabling you to easily create modify and print
all of you requirements for play PBI II.
