It never ceases to amaze me just how creative some people can be. I'm not talking simply about model makers but the people who design the kits and and castings they make. Although many of the products on the market are based on historical subjects - like tanks and aircraft - there exists a great many more which have only ever existed in the minds of their creators. An entire branch of the model industry is dedicated to sci-fi and fantasy models and people like Michael Brooks of Ainsty Castings is just one of the designers who creates them. He's been churning out the weird and wonderful for years and does not seem at all inclined to stop. His product catalogue already boasts around 30 different sub lines - which are themselves composed of far too many items to mention - and now he's added another one!

In truth the new Trader Town series isn't exactly a fantasy range - but could certainly be used as one. It features a selection of huts and ramshackle buildings of type you might see in a western or perhaps an African outpost. Alternatively they could be employed as a setting in some post apocalyptic shanty town. There are a range of different shacks to choose from - some with "tarp" roofs others covered with corrugated iron. There's also a set of boardwalk sections and a few other accessories. Put it all together and you have the ideal backdrop for a gunfight - from Pale Rider to Mad Max.
