All at Sea - and On Rail!

If I were to tell you that Dave Howitt of Britannia Miniatures was all at sea, you'd be forgiven for thinking that work was getting the better of him! Dave presides over one of the most popular figure companies in the industry. His creations have a very distinctive look which has made them a favourite amongst wargamers and collectors alike. The only downside is that between him and the world outside his workshop is a very large grindstone. Dave seems to spend most of his time with nose pressed firmly against it!

Napoleonic Naval Range
His latest offering is a complete 28mm French frigate. This marks the first release in what promises to be a very welcome line up of Napoleonic naval models. The frigate will be followed by landing boats, marines, bomb vessels and even a 74 gun ship of the line. Dave hopes the first pieces will be available by Christmas - by which time he will have more details about prices, etc.

Inkermann Model Railway Products
Whilst I'm here, I must mention that Dave recently added another feather to his cap. In addition to his range of 28mm wargaming miniatures and his recently unveiled 1:9th and 1:35th scale figures - sold under the Inkermann Castings banner - he recently added a new range of model railway products. After a very barren period in the 80s and 90s, model railways are once again in the ascendancy. It's for precisely this reason that several companies who we would normally associate with military models have crossed the tracks and started exploring this new-found and extremely fertile territory.

To date, Dave has released several figure packs in 'OO' gauge (1:76th) along with a small selection of accessories. He's also produced a number of character pieces in the larger 'O' gauge (1:43rd). These are still early days but if the new line attracts as much attention as Britannia's military ranges, this is surely one to watch!
