Black Hat Miniatures
Black Hat Miniatures are a relatively new company having launched our first range in November 2004. The company was set up to produce high quality figures using the best sculptors available. Our aim is to produce in-depth, comprehensive ranges of figures that cover all the options people will require for wargaming in that period.
All our figures are labelled as 18mm. They are large-scale 15mm and match AB Figures, Eureka and the larger Old Glory figures in size. We call them 18mm so that you know what you are getting!
Our first range is the Martian Empires Victorian Science Fiction range sculpted by Alan Marsh, which draws on inspiration from Burroughs and Wells to produce a world where British redcoats and other colonial powers have joined in a "Scramble for Mars".
Martian Empires is also the name of our fast-play VSF rules that will be published as a printed ruleset in 2006. The figure range currently covers British, Imperial Martians and Giant 4-armed Martians with infantry, cavalry and vehicles. The Tripods and troops of the cephalod Martian Invaders are coming next. After that, the range will expand to cover French, Prussian and Russian colonial troops.
Our second range, launched to celebrate our first year, covers Napoleon's campaign in Egypt. These figures, sculpted by Tony Aldrich, will grow into a complete range covering French, British and Ottoman Napoleonic troops. In the future, we will be looking to extend this range to Revolutionary forces and to cover Wellington's campaigns in India as well.
