Miniature Armoured Fighting Vehicle Association

Formed in 1965, MAFVA exists to promote interest in AFVs and their associated equipment and to act as a non-profit-making central organisation for the collocation and dissemination of information. We try to answer queries or seek sources of information for our fast-growing international membership and to encourage correspondence between those with similar interests.

The interests within the Association encompass the First World War to the present day, although the greatest emphasis is centred around the Second World War. The majority of members make and/or collect models, although there are many who only collect information on military subjects. Others work on or even collect and run full size vehicles.

We aim to provide our members with a bi-monthly magazine, Tankette. It is a fully-illustrated litho-printed format and contains articles, photographs and drawings of tanks, self-propelled guns, half- tracks, armoured cars, trucks, artillery, uniforms, unit organisations, vehicles colour schemes and markings, kit conversions, histories, museums, scratchbuilding and modelling tips, as well as kit and book reviews. Each issue also contains several original multi-view scale plans, usually to 1:76 scale but also in larger scales. Each volume comprises six issues, with each volume starting in January.

Full details of back issues and an index are available on the MAFVA website www.mafva.org, along with a resources page (currently displaying a treatise on British military colours and camouflage), and a diary feature. There is also an enrolment form for new members which you can print off.

Local Branches are continually forming both in the UK and overseas and are encouraged to hold meetings, displays and competitions to enable members to get more out of their hobby by meeting others with similar interests and to share information and expertise.
