By Games Workshop

Date: Sunday 25th September 2005
Venue: Birminghan NEC
Doors Open: 10am - 4pm (opens 9am for Golden Demon Entrants)

This year we're moving Games Day to a new home – the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham. Apart from being easier to get to, the NEC provides more space for even more hobby activities! The action now takes place throughout three separate halls; the Forum, Arena and Pavillion.

Whether you're a Games Day veteran or have only recently started your hobby journey there's something for everyone at this year's show.

THE ARENA PARTICIPATION GAMES
Many games covering Warhammer, The Lord of The Rings, Warhammer 40,000 and Specialist Games. Each game is presented complete with miniatures and referees - all you have to do is turn up and play.

MEGA BATTLES
Mammoth games for each of our main game systems - again all you have to do is come to the table and join in!

The Lord of The Rings – Minas Tirith
With the pounding of drums, and the bellowing of Trolls, the armies of Mordor descend to spell the doom of Mankind. Amongst the hordes of Evil being brought to bear, enormous Mûmakil stride bearing the fierce warriors of Harad, the Nazgûl rule the skies upon their Fell Beasts and the mighty Grond rumbles forth to bring down the gates of the White City. But all is not lost for the defenders of Minas Tirith, for the Théoden, King of Rohan, rides at the head of his army, whilst Aragorn, Legolas and Gimli approach with the Army of the Dead! Take part in this mighty struggle for the heart of Gondor and fate of Middle-earth!

Warhammer – The Fate of Grom the Paunch
After attempting to sail around the Empire, Grom's fleet was blown west to Ulthuan, where Grom did what any Goblin would do - start fighting! Join in the final battle of Grom's invasion of Ulthuan at Tor Yvresse, where the Elves make their stand. Hordes of greenskins pour down upon the Elves and giant dragons take to the skies! Will the Elves subcome to Grom's might? Join in and decide.

Warhammer 40,000 – The Battle for Kalevala
This mammoth game sees the entire chapter of the Steel Confessors Space Marines pit itself in desperate battle against the Tyranids of Hive Fleet Leviathan. The world of Kalevala is home to the Gene Seed of the Steel Confessors, as well as a Psychic Choir designed to boost the signal of the Astronomican so that mankind can navigate through the psychic miasma of the Hive Fleets. On the planet is a vast Manifactorum; one the Steel Confessors are honour-pledged to defend. With all this under threat, will the Space Marines hold? Or will we see the death of a Chapter?

A game like no other – the largest game at Games Day, complete with Index Astartes background, a full size Space Marine in chapter colours, and a painting workshop, this is a must see part of this year's Games Day.

FORGE WORLD
Always a popular area, on the Forge World stand you'll see super detailed tanks, vehicle kits and monster kits for most of our game systems. Plus the Forge World Designers area where you can see work in progress and meet some of the designers behind the models.

One of the many busy participation games at Games Day 2004.

THE FORUM

BRING AND BATTLE

HOBBY ZONES
Painting, converting and terrain building are all on offer, giving you the opportunity to have a go and develop your skills under the guidance of our team of hobby experts. These areas are always popular - last year over 4,000 people made and took home a piece of gaming scenery.

Visitors browse the entries to the Artwork Competition.

ARMY CLINIC
Experts from clubs and Hobby Centres around the country are on hand to provide army selection advice. There's also a Painting and Assembly Zone for any models you've bought on the day but can't wait until you get home to get them glued and ready for battle.

CONVERSION AND ART COMPETITIONS
The Conversion Competition is in the Hobby Area and you'll be provided with all the materials you'll need to make either a The Lord of the Rings, Warhammer or Warhammer 40,000 conversion.

The art competition has two categories:

Under 16 years of age

Over 16 years of age

The theme for both categories is 'For the Emperor!' We hope this will inspire fantastic artwork using the imagery and backgrounds of Warhammer and or Warhammer 40,000. Artwork can be black & white or colour. All entries must be on an A4 sized piece of paper - 'portrait' format. Artist's name & contact details must be clearly written on the reverse of the paper.

Please note there is a limit of one A4 portrait sized entry per person. The winners of both categories will be awarded their prize on the main stage during the awards ceremony.

THE PAVILLION

GOLDEN DEMON
The ultimate painting competition, covering ten categories of miniature painting as well as the Young Bloods and Open competitions. Your chance to enter and see some of the finest examples of painting in the world and if you're entry is picked by the judges you could be the winner of the 2005 Slayer Sword! Full category details and the rules & guidelines can be found on the Golden Demon homepage.

GAMES WORKSHOP DESIGN STUDIO AND ARCHIVE DISPLAY

THE WIDER WORLD OF GAMES WORKSHOP
Black Library, Warhammer Historical, Black Industries and Sabertooth Games will all be on hand to show off their latest works.

But that's not all! There's so much to see and do that we can't over it all here - so remember to check White Dwarf each month in the run-up to the show as well as keeping an eye on this section of the website for the very latest news. Don't forget to ask at your local Games Workshop hobby centre about our Games Day coaches. Also keep an eye on the UK Events and Tournaments Forum for discussion on the upcoming event.

Please note that Games Day and Golden Demon 2005 is a 12+ event, and that children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian aged 16 or over.
