I'm a retired science (Chemistry/Physics/Calculus) teacher. I've been painting
historical military figures and models for about 35 years. I got started
in this hobby in the late 60's (while in college) when a friend and I were
invited to a Napoleonic wargame with a group of alcoholic, insane, retired
army people.
Once we recoverered from that experience (about two weeks of detox), we
decided we loved the wargames but couldn't afford the painted metal figures
used by that group. We found 1/72 (HO/OO) Airfix figures and models and
started painting our own. Since then, I've painted about 18,000 figures
(half since I retired) and hundreds of models (war machines, buildings,
etc.).
In the User Gallery
section you will find a great many pictures of my figures, models, and dioramas.
In the Workshop
section - under Teds
Figures - you'll find painting guides for figures (and some models)
ranging from Ancient Greece through the Korean war. A friend who is an expert
on 20th century military (Lee Russell), is responsible for the WW II and
Korean guides. Also on these pages are a series of lists of avaiable figures
(arranged by time period). These are mostly unpainted and cover 1/72 plastic
and metal figures and 1/32 (54mm) plastic figures.
