I'm afraid I'm a fanatic. I used to make whatever took my fancy and still
pretty much do. When I moved to Wales in 2000 though I found the model shops
a bit more limited to the ones in London, so I bought a Tamiya Sherman.
2 firsts. My first Tamiya and my first Military kit. Since then I've spent
the last 3 years or so hooked on Tamiya, which I dont think will stop. I've
just become re-interested in the Ma.K scene again and still have a load
of Anime figures to make up too. So many models and not enough time.
I started modelling when I was a kid when I would nip to town in the morning
and buy a model with my pocket money (usually sci-fi related), then back
home, put it together before lunch and have it painted in time for Dr Who!
Now they take a little longer. I had a break in my teens but then my interest
was rekindled when one day I saw the Alien Power Loader. My dad at the time
was running a model railway shop in Newport S.Wales at the time and had
the contacts to get it quite cheap. So I put an order in for about 4 vinyl
kits and have never looked back since.
I've tried Vinyl, Metal, Resin, Vac formed Plastic, Porcelain, Plastic Injection
and done a few sculptures myself, and love it all....except for the vac
formed. I really appreciate all you guys on this site for one very good
reason....your all fanatics too! Here in Merthyr it's like a desert with
no model shop and no fellow modellers, so it's great to come here and find
guys who are just the same as me, if not worse!
